Cotonou is the Capital of Benin and home to the Port Autonome de Cotonou. The port is connected to a railway system which extends 440 kilometres inland to Parakou (Benin) . From there cargo can be transported for another 200 kilometers by road and then be transported on the Niger river for destination to land locked Niger. The Port Autonome de Cotonou has 8 berths,of which 6 conventional berths, 1 container berth and 1 roro berth. The Cotonou port offers both bonded and non bonded stores, open storage areas as well as free zone facilities for transit cargo's to landlocked countries Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
